10 Flicks: Movies I've Seen In Theaters More Than Once

I’m going to go ahead and assume that since you’ve found this blog, you enjoy movies immensely.

Furthermore, I’m going to assume you love going to the theater to watch the latest big release.

However, are you a multi-viewing person?

For me, going to the movies is one of my favorite things to do.  Sometimes it’s hard to find time to catch a flick with my work schedule.  It’s even harder to see a movie I love more than once…

But every once in a while, a movie comes along that I will have to see more than once.  It’s the biggest compliment I can give to a film.

How many movies have you seen more than once?

Here are 10 Flicks I’ve been happy to revisit:

We Were Soldiers

We were soldiers movie

In high school, there were 2 things to do besides party.  Movies and bowling.  I didn’t care that I had already watched We Were Soldiers.  If my friends wanted to see it, I was more than happy to see it again.

Paranormal Activity

paranormal activity movie

I saw this movie on back to back nights and I had trouble sleeping for a week afterwards.  One of the best horror movies I’ve ever seen in theaters.  Ironically, I haven’t seen it since… I’m too frightened.

Not to mention it was my favorite movie of 2009.

Bad Boys 2

bad boys 2 movie

I loved the original Bad Boys and the second was among the most entertaining movies of that summer.  Lazy day…  Kick ass action movie…  Done.

Spider-Man

Spider-Man Movie

Movies don’t come nerdier than this.  I literally had plans to see it twice before it was even released.  In the end, I saw it 3 times in 3 weeks.

300

300 movie

This was the first movie I saw the second time by myself.  I couldn’t find anyone who wanted to catch a matinee with me so I went alone.

Mission Impossible 2

mission impossible 2 movie

I love this entire series.  Even though M:I 3 is my favorite, I still loved the action in the second installment enough to see it twice.

Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest

Pirates of the caribbean Davy Jones

Who doesn’t love an old fashioned adventure film with state of the art visual effects? I loved it twice.

Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace

Darth Maul Movie

The first and only movie I’ve ever seen 4 times in theaters.  4 visits in the first 2 weeks of release.  That’s pretty good for a high school student without a car who lived 25 minutes away from the theater.  When this movie came out, I got my parents permission to skip school and went downtown with my friends to wait in line for HOURS!  Every second was worth it.

Note: People clapped when Darth Maul died…  That bugged me.

The Matrix Reloaded

The Matrix Reloaded Movie

The Matrix will always be one of my favorite film franchises.  I still wish I loved the 3rd chapter as much as the first and second but it wasn’t meant to be. I still saw this movie twice on opening weekend.  That counts.

The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight Joker

Ah The Dark Knight.  My most anticipated movie of all time.  I waited almost 4 hours in line to see the first midnight screening of this movie.  I went back at 3pm the next day.  The following day, I caught a matinee by myself.

Basically, what I’m saying is I saw The Dark Knight twice in the same day and 3 times before it’s first record breaking weekend ended.

Point. Nolan.

All Time Best Movie Moments

This All Time Best post is dedicated to my favorite Pixar character of all time and it’s not who you would expect.

I went obscure on this one because he still makes me laugh.

The runner up: Hamm from Toy Story.

“You’ve heard of Kung Fu? Well prepare yourself for pork chop!”

It’s really hard to narrow down one single character out of hundreds of hilarious creations but I’m pretty proud of my pick:

Jacques (Finding Nemo)

jacques finding nemo

“Jacques?”

“Oui?”

“No cleaning!”

“I shall resist.”

Finding Nemo has a ton of amazing characters but Jacques sticks out for me.  There’s just something about this little guy makes me laugh more than any other Pixar character and that’s saying something.  I think he may have 10 lines of dialogue in the entire movie but the filmmakers made every single one of them count.

Fantastic character.

Point.  Pixar.

10 Flicks Movie Lists: Movies With Awesome Training Scenes

It’s been a little while since I put up a 10 Flicks list.  It’s been even longer since I wrote about my favorite sports movies.

There are honestly so many incredible movies about virtually every single sport you can name.  What’s surprising is how many amazing movies don’t actually feature championship games.

Seeing as how I work at a sports network, I figured I’d ask my co-workers to help me out and we came up with a list of 47 movies with championship games.

They don’t necessarily have to be victories.  Just thrilling finals that live up to the hype.

Here are my favorite 10:

Hoosiers

10 Flicks Movie Lists: Movies With Awesome Training Scenes

Scattered throughout my DVD collection are 43 movies I’ve never seen.

I was trying to find something to watch during lunch the other day and decided it was time to shrink that number to zero.

I’ve made it my mission to be able to confidently claim that I’ve seen every single movie I own.

Today, I’d like to list the top 10 movies I own but haven’t seen yet.

I’m also going Tarantino with this post as it will feature TWO narratives.  Along with 10 movies you’ll also find the top 10 reasons why I own them in the first place.  It’s a creative way to get around the fact that I can’t write about movies I’ve never seen.

Mystery Alaska

Future Shop and Best Buy cheap bins can be very attractive to a movie collector.

Cronos

cronos-del-toro-movie

Package deals.  The big electronic stores sometimes bundle a new release with another movie from the same filmmaker.  98% of those movies I’ve never even heard of let alone watched.

We Own The Night

Curiosity plays a big part.  Renting movies costs an average of 4 dollars.  Why not spend a couple extra bucks and just buy a used copy?  I may have an addiction.

The Iron Giant

the_iron_giant

I can’t be the only one who buys movies simply to watch the special features.  I own a bunch of DVDs with great special features but I still haven’t found the time to watch the entire film.

Funny People

Funny People Movie

Blockbuster deals! 2 for 20, 3 for 30, Buy 2 get 1 free.  I can’t resist the deals but there are times when I can’t decide what to get so I’ll throw in a calculated risk here and there.  Sometimes it pays off…  Sometimes it doesn’t.

Days Of Thunder

daysofthunder1

I used to be addicted to eBay.  I would log on and look for people selling 20 or 30 movies at a time.  I probably won about 4 or 5 of those auctions.  There was bound to be a few I hadn’t seen in those collections.

Chinatown

Chinatown Movie

I’m the first to admit there are movies I’ve purchased solely on the fact that they are well known and critically acclaimed.

Public Enemies

Public Enemies

Sometimes, a new release comes out that looks like a guaranteed top shelf contender.  This can backfire sometimes if the movie turns out to be a dud.  It doesn’t happen often but it’s possible.

American Beauty

american beauty

I’m the easiest person to shop for.  I enjoy movies.  Buy me movies.  I almost feel worse for not watching a movie that was a birthday or christmas present.  That’s why I’ve embarked on this mission!

The Shining

shining movie jack nicholson

In some cases I was given hand-me-down DVDs because my business partner tends to re-buy the newest ultimate feature backed collector edition… box sets.  Thanks buddy.

10 Flicks: Movies I Own That I've Never Seen

What about the other 30 or so?

Many are horror movies and comedies.  Many people would classify them in the ‘B’ category but I have a special appreciation for them as well.  I just haven’t had a chance to watch them yet!

Any movies in YOUR collection you haven’t gotten to yet?

10 Flicks Movie Lists: Movies With Awesome Training Scenes

Statement: Watching people training hard for things is entertaining.

A quick scan of this list will reveal a group of movies with vastly different types of training and while some may not be incredibly inspiring, they are each entertaining in their own way.

Here are 10 movies with awesome training scenes:

Remember The Titans

Remember The Titans Movie

In the category of inspirational, Remember The Titans is right up there with the best of them.  Watching the team train on screen and then cheering them on to victory is what makes these types of movies sensational.

The Recruit

The Recruit Pacino Farrell

It was clear to me when I started this list that spy movies would be represented in some way. What I love about The Recruit is how well the training sequences are integrated into the overall story.  Plus, I can watch Al Pacino in just about anything.

Starship Troopers

Starship Troopers Neil Patrick Harris

This is probably a surprise addition to some but I find this movie entertaining.  It definitely wins the award for most original training scenes.

“Get your hand on that wall!”

The Guardian

The Guardian Movie Costner

This movie came out of no where and really impressed. Some of the best movies with training sequences take place in specialty schools where exceptional people excel.  The Guardian takes you through the grueling training the coast guard puts it’s new recruits through.  It’s fascinating to watch.

The Mighty Ducks

The Mighty Ducks Quack

Take your pick.  D1 and D2 both provide some pretty great training sequences.  They are some of the funniest training scenes you’ll ever see.  The Mighty Ducks is one of my favorite sports movies but I give the edge to D2 this time.

Check out Rainy Sundays: The Mighty Ducks

Million Dollar Baby

Million Dollar Baby Boxing

Nobody should be shocked that a boxing movie made this list.  Million Dollar Baby is a prime example of the heights dedication allows you to reach. Being passionate about something and putting in the work will always bring results.

Is it weird that I feel like jogging right now?

The Matrix

“I know kung fu.”

The Matrix Neo

Easily the coolest movie on this list. Who wouldn’t want a giant needle rammed into their skulls in order to learn how to fight in a matter of seconds?  Imagine the possibilities.

Full Metal Jacket

And the award for bad ass training goes to…

Full Metal Jacket Hartman Training

I’m fairly certain I’ve never seen this movie all the way through but I’ve definitely seen the first 30 minutes about a million times.  I honestly don’t know what I would do if I was in that unit and had to deal with Sergeant Hartman.

I think I would have laughed.  Which would have had drastic effects on my well being.

The Karate Kid

karate kid ralph macchio mr miyagi

I’ve written a lot about those who are training on this list but what about the trainers?  Who doesn’t love Mr. Miyagi!

When I was a kid, I considered the crane kick a part of my fighting arsenal.  Who’s with me?

Karate Kid Crane

Rocky

Rocky Training

Boxing.  The kings of the training movies. How could I leave Rocky off of this list.  A series of 5 movies about defying the odds and becoming a champion.  Rocky is one of the most inspirational characters in history. Watching him train is equally inspirational.
