Ted: Red Band Trailer vs Green Band Trailer | Ted Movie 2012 Seth MacFarelane

SETH MACFARELANE’S DIRECTORIAL DEBUT

Ohhhhhhhh censorship…

“Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane brings his boundary-pushing brand of humor to the big screen for the first time as writer, director and voice star of Ted. In the live action/CG-animated comedy, he tells the story of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear who came to life as the result of a childhood wish…and has refused to leave his side ever since.”

In this case, the bear swears, smokes pot and chases women…

THE restricTED TRAILER

It’s hard to sell such a strange concept which is why I thought the Red Band trailer was brilliant.  Forget getting into the details of the plot just glaze over it a bit and open the door to Seth MacFarlane’s awesome sense of humor.  That’s the beauty of Red Band trailers.  You don’t have to worry about censoring words and NSFW type situations.  It’s a great way to show off the true style of the movie.

I’m a huge fan of Seth MacFarlane from Family Guy to his hosting duties on Comedy Central’s Celebrity Roasts.  His comedic style (and voice) come through loud and clear in the red band trailer.  I was sold the second I heard The Thunder Song.

Of course, red band trailers aren’t going to be played everywhere so things need to be toned down.  How do you sell a concept like Ted without the swearing?  You focus on the story and show off the spirit of the movie.

TED GREEN BAND TRAILER

Obviously if you don’t watch and/or laugh at Family Guy this movie probably isn’t for you.  The concept is pretty weird after all.  I suppose you either buy it or you don’t.

I happen to love both of these trailers.  It looks like a fun and definitely original comedy.  While I laughed a LOT more watching the Red Band trailer I still enjoyed Green because it gives you a better look at what kind of movie this will be.

However, I really think I would have just said ‘meh’ had I not seen the profanity first. For that reason the red band wins for me.

Hopefully they held back a lot and we’ll get a ton of Ted when the movie is released July 13, 2012.

PS: I do wish Ted sounded less like Peter Griffin…

dumb and dumber boy this party really died

WHAT ARE HARRY AND LLOYD UP TO THESE DAYS?

First, a new live action Ninja Turtles and now another of my all time favorites is returning.  People who follow this site regularly have no doubt encountered my deep love of the original Dumb & Dumber.  In my opinion, it’s one of the funniest movies of all time.  Word surfaced in the last few days that EVERYONE will be returning to shoot Dumb & Dumber 2 this fall…

“Noooo way… That’s great…  We landed on the moon!”

It was Peter Farrelly himself who spoke at a recent press junket for The Three Stooges:

“We’re getting set to shoot ‘Dumb and Dumber 2′ in September. It’s the first sequel we’ve ever done and we’ve got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back.  We did not do DUMB AND DUMBERER, that was a studio thing. So we’ve always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, ‘We’ve got to do this thing again.’ He had just watched ‘Dumb and Dumber’ and he said, ‘This is the perfect sequel. Let’s do it.” Comingsoon

Let the speculation begin.  What will Harry & Lloyd be up to this time?  What could they possibly be doing 20 years later?

The Single Shot That Sold Me On The New TOTAL RECALL | Total Recall 2012

TOTAL RECALL REMAKE LOOKS AWESOME

This movie was always a small blip on my radar but it was easily overshadowed by the big boys like The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, Spider-Man and Prometheus.  Still, the promise of Len Wiseman behind the lens and Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale in front of it was promising.

XTRA | Top 5 Summer Action Movies without Bats, Spiders or Avengers

A lot of people may be a little disappointed with the lack of a red planet and a third boob but I’m willing to give it a shot.

This is a perfect example of how a single trailer can turn skeptics into believers.  I’m ready for a rebooted Douglas Quaid because of one shot.  I’m sure you can figure out which one it is by watching the trailer but in case you miss it, pay attention at the 1:05 minute mark.

Sold.  That’s all I needed to see.

I’ve always been a fan of Len Wiseman and he is definitely raising the bar with his vision of Total Recall.  The movie looks gorgeous and should be an action packed good time.  I’m thinking Prometheus will have some company this summer.  That is good news for science fiction fans indeed.
