The Final Rainy Sunday: The Beauty Of Lazy Day Movies

Rainy Sundays was one of the first features I created for this blog.

It was about appreciated those lazy days when you put on your favorite movies and escape.

Who doesn’t love a good Sunday afternoon indoors watching movies?

Personally, my ideal Rainy Sunday includes a good drama, a comforter, a massive sandwich or pizza and some form of candy.  It’s even better when there’s enough time to sneak in a double feature.

What movies do you love to watch on rainy days?

After more than 30 picks, I’ve decided to move on so this will be the FINAL Rainy Sunday post.

Below you’ll find the complete Rainy Sunday Series.

Perhaps, I’ll resurrect the feature someday but I think I’ve made my point.  There’s nothing like a good movie on a lazy day.

Rainy Sundays Movie Picks Beauty & The Beast

A little while ago, I was visiting some friends and they brought out their new Blu Ray copy of Beauty & the Beast.

It’s been ages since I sat down and watched the film and instantly I was brought back to the old days.

The Disney days.

I only saw the first 10 minutes but I was blown away by the quality of the film.  One of the greatest animated films of all time in high definition.  Nice.

I bought a copy of my own a few days later.

Rainy Sundays: Beauty & The Beast

I loved Disney’s animated classics growing up.  The Lion King, Alladin, Snow White, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book , Pinocchio and countless others are a treasured part of my past.

My new blu ray copy of Beauty & The Beast has re-ignited my love of the old school animated films.

Now I want them all again!

There’s something amazing about going back and remembering your child hood and the movies you adored.

It never changes.

I could have muted the movie and performed each and every line myself.  It’s the same way with all of the old Disney movies.

This edition of Rainy Sundays comes with a challenge:

Go back and relive your favorite cartoons from your youth.  Spend a lazy afternoon with movies you used to love but probably haven’t seen in a while.

Spend some time with old friends.

PS: Love old trailers.

Rainy Sundays: My Life

September 5th, 2010 | Posted by jasonmckinnon in Movies | Rainy Sundays - (0 Comments)

Rainy Sundays Movie Picks My Life

My life is a fantastic movie to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

This week’s pick is a film that scares me every time I see it.  Truthfully, I’m almost afraid to watch it because it makes me think about my own life and how precious every day is.  At the same time, the film also makes me thankful for what I have and reminds me to embrace each day to the fullest.

Movies to watch on a lazy day My Life

My Life is the story of a man dealing with cancer and struggling to tie up all the loose ends in his life.  At the same time he also struggles to stay alive long enough to watch the birth of his son.

Michael Keaton and Nicole Kidman are both outstanding in it and I couldn’t recommend it more.

Especially if you are looking for a movie to watch on a lazy day.

Lazy Day Rainy Sunday Movie Picks

Up until now, Rainy Sundays has been about the movies we love to watch on legendary lazy days.

Movies we turn to when it’s time to curl up on the couch and enjoy an afternoon with a good sandwich. (Insert your favorite lunch here.)

But…

What happens when you can’t decide on that perfect movie?

What happens when you stare at your collection unable to decide how to spend your Rainy Sunday.

Welcome to Rainy Sundays Toss Up.  A look at the random movies you almost watched and the ones that eventually win out.

I was at Shoppers Drug Mart the other day and I came upon a cheap DVD bin.  2 for $10!

How could I resist?

Most of the movies stunk but I did find two gems.  Which one do I watch first?

Eastern Promises vs Saw V

I’ve seen Eastern Promises only once and I was thoroughly entertained.  Watch it back to back with A History Of Violence if you’re looking for a great double feature.

I haven’t seen it since but I absolutely adored it.

I’ve never seen Saw V but I own the other 4.  You have to complete the set right?

I was left with a decision.

Watch and enjoy a movie I’ve already seen or take a risk on a franchise I happen to love.

Tough call.

Toss Up: Eastern Promises vs Saw V

Eastern Promises.

I only get one Sunday a week and I work a lot so I wanted to revisit Viggo and crew.  I didn’t regret a thing.

I’ll save Saw V for a late night viewing sometime this week.
