I can’t handle it anymore. The excitement is building exponentially. This is a movie Marvel fans have been waiting for every since Nick Fury began recruiting his team in 2008′s Iron Man & The Incredible Hulk. We’ve all wondered whether The Avengers will live up to the hype. Thankfully, each and every promotional still, promo and trailer have confirmed that we are in for something special.
We now know a ton of official details about the newest James Bond adventure. Not the least of which is the title of the film, Skyfall. Personally, I can’t wait to see Mr. Bond taking on Javier Bardem. I’ve included the entire press conference below.
This week’s featured post is all about screenwriting and what inspires the words on the page. Is it a pool? A grey hair? A video game? The weather? A music video? Your worst fear? You never really know when inspiration will strike. You just have to do your best to be ready when it does.
This week’s Rundown features Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, an Oscar nominated short film, tons of new trailers, Star Wars Week, Halloween Posts and more!
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE GHOST PROTOCOL IS HUGE
With the launch of the second (and awesome) trailer for the film, big film blogs began posting reactions to 20 minutes of IMAX footage. It sounds like Brad Bird’s first live action film will be one of the best films of 2011 and certainly the franchise as a whole.
Every single post I read gushed over the stunning visuals and how BIG this IMAX 3D release will be. Check out a few of them by visiting /Film, IGN & Joblo.
In addition to reactions from the press screening we also got a behind the scenes look at one of the biggest set pieces in the film.
And of course, to top it all off, we got a brand new trailer for the movie!
I absolutely adored the teaser trailer and while this one doesn’t quite have the same punch the first one did, it’s still a great trailer.
It’s been over two months since the last Rundown. It was really a combination of events that led to the delay. First and foremost, I took a month off from blogging in order to catch up on filmmaking, screenwriting and life in general. I also launched a new blog called People Tales and I redesigned The Athletic Nerd.
Now that those projects are behind me, it’s time to move forward with a new look for The Rundown. Enjoy!
THE AVENGERS ARRIVE!
This week, the first teaser trailer for The Avengers was released and it didn’t disappoint. It’s full of amazing action and back and forth between Marvel’s heroes.
The last Superman movie felt like a waste. Obviously we got several moments where he ‘saved the day’ but it really seemed like he was being held back. Will Zack Snyder’s reboot unleash the Man of Steel? This first official image is a step in the right direction.
Catwoman Looks Out Of Place
While the first look at Superman is encouraging, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises looks out of place. Maybe it’s the fact that she is riding the Bat Pod but those goggles are way to big for her face. I’m starting to secretly hope that it’s a minor role but I trust Christopher Nolan and I’m more than happy to admit I’m wrong if she fits in…
Lucasfilm Without Temples Or Lightsabers?
Red Tails looks like a fantastic… tale. More than that the aerial battles are spectacular. It’s a far cry from a galaxy far far away but I’ll take it.
Invisible Lightning Ball Aliens!
The trailer for The Darkest Hour has arrived and while I’m skeptical of the film overall, I can’t deny the effects look great. The way those human beings disintegrate into dust is pretty sweet.
Every so often, a movie comes along that seems to only be capitalizing on the latest crazy. In this case, found footage ghost stories. However, there are moments in this trailer that may convince you to allow another player in the game. I’m certainly looking forward to Grave Encounters.
