Clearly I’m not going to unveil the finished tattoo designs…
Sunday began with a much anticipated make-up test. Destiny’s facial tattoos play a pivotal role in the film. This was our first opportunity to see the designs on Alyssa’s face.
This process is long but absolutely crucial to get right. After about 4-5 hours of deliberations, changes and tweaks we finally had our tattoos locked and ready to go when the cameras roll.
What interested me the most about the day was Alyssa’s willingness to keep the make-up on as we travelled out in public for wardrobe purchases and rehearsals.
The above image is one of many instances of people staring at her. People focused only on her face. At one point, a heated conversation in the park actually stopped as we passed by. Whispers could be heard as we passed.
Unreal.
These reactions were key as a lot of the tension in the movie stems from the tattoos and how people react to them. It was nice to see them in action.
I have to give special thanks again to Alyssa for sitting still for 5 hours. (Especially when the pizzas arrived.) More than anything, credit has to be given to Alex for not only designing beautiful tattoos but for effortlessly applying them to Alyssa’s face. They look incredible and I’m really pumped to see them on camera!
Note: If you look really hard you can see some of her ‘ink’.
