All Time Best: Movie Trailer & Promo Music

This was a difficult post to title and even harder to select a winner. Sometimes, incredible trailers come along and they are matched with the absolute perfect song. In this case, I’m not referring to thumping scores or dramatic orchestral arrangements. I’m talking about real world recognizable songs. In certain cases, a song is actually written for the film. Take Linkin Park and their association with Michael Bay’s Transformers franchise for example. First there was ‘What I’ve Done‘, next ‘New Divide‘ and finally ‘Iridescent‘ for the third and final chapter Dark of the Moon.
What brought on this post was the recent release of the outstanding teaser for The Avengers.
The song featured in the trailer is ‘We’re In This Together Now‘ by Nine Inch Nails and it’s absolutely perfect. What better way to introduce a team of legendary superheroes called together for the first time?
Another great match was the Smashing Pumpkins song ‘The End is the Beginning is the End‘ with Zak Snyder’s Watchmen adaptation in 2009
I think picking your favorite movie trailer song all depends on what type of music you like. It’s always exciting to hear a song you already love attached to a movie you can’t wait to see. Sometimes, trailers and promos unleash an older song you’ve forgotten about and it finds it’s way back into your iPod. Other times, it’s a song you’ve never heard of but instantly adore because of the visuals you associate it with.
My pick is a song written exclusively for a movie that truly captured my imagination. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man.
The song was ‘Hero’ by Chad Kroeger featuring Josey Scott.
I remember watching the music video over and over again just to see the Spider-Man shots inter cut throughout. Back then, I spent hours looking for any tidbit of news I could find on the movie and this song/video helped ease the long wait to finally see the film.
