All Time Best: Funniest Movie Moment

January 13th, 2010 | Posted by jasonmckinnon in All Time Best | Movies

A while back, I was thinking about what my all time favorite movie moment would be.  It’s such an interesting idea. I had to think about it for a while.  How can you narrow thousands of movies down to a single moment with so many memorable scenes out there?

Eventually, I came to the conclusion that it can’t be done.  (In my case at least.) There are too many reasons why scenes stick with you to come up with a single favorite. As a result, I decided it was time to launch a new feature:

All Time Best Movie Moments

I’ll be posting periodically with my all time favorite movie moments.  Everyone has them and it doesn’t matter if you are a casual fan or a hardcore film buff, the idea of selecting a favorite scene always sparks debate.

Try asking someone what their favorite movie moment is.  I guarantee they will have to think about it for a while.  My first reaction was to name a moment from my favorite movie but that isn’t always the case.

My solution was to choose scenes from different genres.  Today, I want to start with comedy.  I thought about it for a while and I can’t think of another scene that caused more rewinds than this classic moment.  It’s a standout scene from one of my favorite comedies of all time.

Dumb and Dumber: The Snowball

What’s your all time best movie moment?

Tough call to narrow down a movie that had me laughing so hard. Off the top of my head Wedding Crashers during touch football. Well, now other ones pop up… The Hangover when they get the car from the impound and the naked Chinese guy jumps out. Ghostbusters when Rick Moranis runs from the “dog”. Alright one scene comes in clear and it doesn’t generate the biggest laugh but more of a sustained laugh. In My Favorite Year where Alan Swann (Peter O’Toole) and Benjy Stone (Mark Linn Baker) are on the roof and Swann wants to rappel down to a party with a fire hose while completely intoxicated. That little scene just keeps me laughing.

  • I totally agree that it’s tough to narrow down. I’ve thought of another dozen moments that made me laugh just as hard since posting this morning. None have derailed the champ yet. That snowball impact is fantastic lol.

I haven’t seen Wedding Crashers since it was in theaters. I have to get on that.

The first 45 minutes rock. Poor Vince and all of his problems in the film.

Did you ever do a post about your top 10 “Must See” films during the year? I think it would be interesting to see what films people try to watch year in and year out!

  • Great Idea. 10 Flicks: Movies I Watch Once A Year.

Keep an eye out for it. It’s officially on my list of upcoming posts.

I have to agree that the snowball scene is an absolute classic. i also killed myself at the scene at the beach where they discover the money. Harry’s hands are freezing and Lloyd offers his extra pair because his hands are getting sweaty. LMAO then harry get so upset that he starts to choke Lloyd and while he’s being chocked Lloyd sais “Harry, your hands are freezing!!!!!” bahahahaha

I think my most memorable funny scene is from Austin Powers though where Powers tries to turn a cart around in a narrow hallway. lmao
    check it out.
