Rainy Sundays Movie Picks

This week’s pick makes me angry because I haven’t thought to write about it yet…

The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption

From a screenwriting perspective, it’s one of my favorites.  It’s such an incredible story and the writing is truly tremendous.

From a Sunday perspective, it’s simply a perfect movie to enjoy on a lazy afternoon especially when it’s raining outside.  These types of slow building dramas are always a good choice on days when you just want to relax.

The Shawshank Redemption, for those who haven’t seen it, is about an innocent man serving 2 life sentences in prison.  It almost seems criminal to describe it in such a general way.  The movie is so much more than a prison drama.

This is one of my favorite examples of how important characters are to a story.  Andy and Red are among the best in terms of fully developped and interesting characters. You’ll have to excuse me for using ‘writery’ terms but I really geek out about this movie.

There are two things you should take from this post.

  1. I’m a nerd…. Shocking…
  2. The Shawshank Redemption is an amazing movie.
