The Joys of Random Late Night Movies
November 10th, 2011 | Posted by in MoviesMy work schedule is completely tied to the number of professional sports events on a given night. The less events there are, the better chance I have of getting home before 2am.
Now, for normal human beings with 9-5 type jobs, you probably get home from work and wind down with a little television or a movie. Its exactly the same for television folk and I highly enjoy falling asleep watching movies. It’s just super late so I have to be quiet.
Thankfully, I have an arrangement with my fiancé. She leaves the television on so I can crawl into bed and watch for an hour or so. In return, I look the other way as she hits the snooze button 11 times each morning.
Normally, I’m smart enough to pre load a DVD before I go to work but sometimes I forget and I have to peruse the guide for something worthwhile. My general rule is to only watch movies Ive already seen or else I would never sleep. So I’m always happy to find a hidden gem in the infinite abyss that is digital cable. For example, the other night I came across X-Men.
I hadn’t seen Bryan Singers superhero tale in ages. To me, older action movies are the best way to simmer down after a busy shift.
The next day I came across The Fugitive with Harrison Ford.
I fell asleep reliving the original Men In Black recently.

I followed that up with a late night commercial filled (and censored?) War of the Worlds.

Of course, I don’t limit my picks to action movies. It really depends on the day but I seriously love the channel surfing. When I sneak into bed, I never know which movie I will discover. There is definitely a moment when I find a classic I adore and I want to shake my girlfriend to tell her. Then I realize the consequences of my actions would be severe so I leave her alone, smile to myself and enjoy a good random late night movie.
