Why It’s Cool To See Movies By Yourself…

There will always be a debate among movie fans when dealing with an extremely sensitive subject like:

Is it cool to go see a movie by yourself?

Personally, I think it’s extremely cool to see a movie by yourself but that’s because I go alone all the time. I’m constantly attending matinees because my work schedule allows it. It’s completely acceptable to catch a 12:10 before my shift begins at 4 P.M.

Still, I understand the debate. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to pull off a Friday night movie by myself. I’d rather have company but during the day when everyone else is at work I don’t think it’s an issue at all.

In fact, that’s how I see most of the films no one wants to see with me. I look forward to it. Even if they look horrible. Ahem… The Green Hornet… Had I not gone alone, I would have had to wait until it came out on demand… Unacceptable. Even though the movie was terrible…

I think it’s a sign of confidence to be seen in a theater by yourself. Especially if you’re obsessed with movies and the theater experience. I stroll around with my hot dogs and cheesy fries and take over 3 seats right in the middle of the theater. Most of the time there are less than 10 people in the room so it’s always quiet.

How many times have you been annoyed in a crowded theater?

I kick back like it’s my own living room and enjoy new releases in peace. It’s honestly one of my favorite things to do and THAT is why going to the movies alone is cool…

As long as it isn’t a Friday night…

THINK OF THE MOVIES YOU COULD SEE!

Don’t be afraid. If you want to see a movie alone I say go for it. I don’t think people see enough movies alone. It allows you to truly focus on the movie you paid to see and appreciate it for what it’s worth. You’ll discover a lot more films when you are looking for someone to go with you.
