Producing Short Films

17 West Productions, recently wrapped another low budget short film called The Climb.

We started pre-production right around the time I began this blog.  As a result, there are a ton of posts on this site dealing with virtually every aspect of the production process.

Right now, I’m just about finished rolling out a series of posts on our 3 day shoot and I’m planning a recap as soon as the final post is published.

I also thought it would be a good idea to collect all of the posts I’d written leading up to the shoot.

Many of them deal with the challenges of producing a short film on a low budget.  It certainly wasn’t easy…

Click here for a detailed look at how much the movie cost us to make.

The Climb will probably be our last low budget short for a while as we are now actively planning some bigger and more ambitious films.  However, it was definitely a fantastic experience!

Stay tuned for more on The Climb’s production process including more on the actual production as well as in depth details on the post-production process.

What!? Ninja Turtles New Look?

April 26th, 2010 | Posted by jasonmckinnon in Movies - (0 Comments)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles New Look

Okay…

It’s no secret I’m a gigantic fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I’ve written about them several times already.

I love everything about TMNT.  I loved the cartoons, the action figures and even the adventures I had in my back yard with a plastic sai and an imagination.  The new animated movie wasn’t half bad either.  I was a Ninja Turtle for Halloween on TWO separate occasions.

Yes, the heroes in a half shell have a special place in my childhood memories.

Ahem…  Observe the picture below:

Is This The New TMNT look?

Here is a link to the story where I found this image.

A Batman Begins Approach to Ninja Turtles?

… Go on…

I have to say, I’m not thrilled that it looks nothing like the original cartoons and films but I’m not completely turned off either.  If this is legit and indeed the new direction for the Ninja Turtles, I’m willing to give it a shot.  It could end up being incredible!

Interesting look though.  I can’t see that thing yelling “Cowabunga” and that might be an issue.
