I polled a bunch of people to try and come up with someone better than today’s big winner. Some came close like Dodgeball’s White Goodman but we couldn’t genuinely say they were as cocky as:
Shooter McGavin
The arrogant golf pro in Happy Gilmore is as cocky as they come. He is such an easy character to hate thanks to Christopher McDonald’s brilliant performance.
Happy Gilmore is one of the funniest movies ever made. (In my opinion of course.) Shooter deserves a lot of the credit. So many amazing one liners and quotes come from Shooter’s smug face.
“And you can count… On me waiting for you in the parking lot…”
We’ve all enjoyed movie marathons from time to time. Matching two worthy movies together can be pretty challenging. Sometimes it’s tough to decide which two go together. Others are a little more obvious.
Some get inspired during the first movie and choose the next film accordingly. Others plan ahead. Some simply watch the same combos over and over again until they become cherished traditions.
Honestly, as I stared at my DVD collection, I could have easily named about 50 billion different combinations but I had to stop somewhere.
What are some of your favorite double features?

Here are some of my favorites:
[Note] I’m aware this list doesn’t really have 10 films… I’m okay bending the rules every once in a while.
I was at a wedding a few weeks ago and a friend of mine was talking about his love of the movie Goonies. More specifically, how watching the movie makes him crave Pizza.
He turned to me and said that I should write a post called: Movies that make me want to eat pizza.
It was a great idea but I decided to expand it slightly as the post title suggests.
Here are 10 movies that make me hungry:
Ratatouille
Pasta
Food lovers must adore this movie! This one is a no brainer.
Home Alone 2: Lost In New York
Pizza
When the hotel clerk opens up that steaming hot cheese pizza, I pick up my phone and call Dominos.
Happy Gilmore
Subway Sandwiches
Who doesn’t love fresh, delicious, tasty, meaty, turkey-filled Cold Cut Combos?
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
Burgers
Another shocker. The ultimate craving movie! I’ve never had a White Castle burger though. It’s on my list.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Candy
I love candy. That is all…
Twister
Steak & Eggs
This is a strange one but those that know this movie well will know the scene I’m referring too. Aunt Meg comes through in the clutch!
Waiting
Steak
This one may surprise considering what they do to steaks in this movie. That doesn’t stop steak from being awesome though…
Hook
Pie/Chicken
“Everybody say grace… Grace!!!”
Those pies just look like pure icing! Also the chicken looks outstanding.
The Godfather
Italian Food
Hands down my favorite food group. There is no shortage of tomato sauce in this movie. I make good tomato sauce as well.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1,2 & 3)
Pizza
Anyone who has visited this site knows my love of Ninja Turtles. Therefore it should surprise no one that they made this list.
“Wise men say, forgiveness is divine but never pay full price for late pizza.”
Essentially, a pre-drinking comedy is a movie you put on with a group of friends while you are getting ready for a massive night out. The first list focused on the newer classics like The Hangover and Old School.
Many people questioned why I left out some of the best comedies of the 90′s.
So…
Here are 10 moreof my favorite pre-drinking comedies.
Honorable Mention:Wayne’s World, The Waterboy, Swingers, American Pie, Zoolander
Happy Gilmore
“The price is wrong bitch!
Happy Gilmore is a classic. I find the older the movie gets, the more people are excited to watch it before a night out. Many love the movie but rarely find the time to put it on and laugh while Bob Barker beats the crap out of Happy.
Dodgeball
“Nobody makes me bleed my own blood… Nobody!”
Dodgeball is one of the most random comedies in history. How they managed to pull that cast together to pull off a movie about dodgeball is beyond me but I’m happy they did. It’s a perfect movie to enjoy while the shots are being lined up and distributed.
Super Troopers
“Awesome prank Farva”
The last time I watched this movie was at my friends cottage with about 9 other people. Most of us were quoting the lines before they happened and we were laughing so hard we missed the actual lines and had to rewind it.
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery
“Someone help me. I’m still alive only I’m very badly burned.”
A part of the humor in this movie died for me when Mike Myers tried to duplicate it with The Love Guru. Ouch. However, it’s still a hilarious movie with an equally funny sequel. (I didn’t like Goldmember)
Billy Madison
“Well, ‘sorry’ doesn’t put the Triscuit crackers in my stomach now, does it Carl?”
I miss old school Adam Sandler comedies. They were awesome. Much like Jim Carrey, I know those days are over but I’m thankful we still have gems like Billy Madison.
Spaceballs
“Druish princesses are often attracted to money, and power, and I have both, and you know it!”
Spaceballs is an amazingly dumb comedy and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s brought us some of the best quotes of all time and there’s nothing better than laughing at Barf’s antics with a beer in hand.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
“No thanks, I don’t smoke. It’s a disgusting habit”
I mentioned Jim Carrey earlier because I really miss comedies like Ace Ventura, The Mask, Dumb & Dumber among others. Still, he has provided us with some of the greatest comedic performances of all time.
A toast to Jim Carrey!
Varsity Blues
“I love that dog”
“I think it’s a pig.”
Here is a movie that definitely deserves the pre drinking comedy label. Varsity Blues is one of my favorite sports movies and it also happens to be absolutely hysterical. We’ve all done ‘The new tweeter end zone dance’. Admit it.
Tommy Boy
“Your brain has a… shell on it.”
I miss Chris Farley a ton. He was one of the funniest people on the planet. Tommy Boy is one of the best pre drinking comedies out there simply because of his brilliance.
Dumb & Dumber
“Oh here it is… Samsonite. I was way off”
Was there really any doubt this movie would be on this list? In my opinion, it’s the most quotable movie of all time and easily one of the best pre drinking comedies in the history of the world.
