How To Survive The Boo Box

How To Escape From The Boo Box | Hook 1991

FOR ANYONE WHO HAS EVER LOST SLEEP BECAUSE OF HORRIFYING SCORPION FILLED CHESTS.

I often think about The Boo Box from Steven Spielberg’s Hook.  It’s been haunting me for decades now.  So let’s talk about it…

XTRA | Rainy Sunday: Hook

First of all, what kind of an idiot admits to doubting his Captain that quickly! Especially when your Captain is Hook!  You have to lie if you doubt your captain.  Honesty means nothing to the steel handed stingray.  Also, why bother showing your face on that ship in the first place? You know he’s going to find out by asking you a simple question.  People who get the Boo Box sentence make me sad…

So here are some tips on how to survive The Boo Box.

  1. Don’t doubt your Captain!
  2. Once in the boo box, calm down and locate the scorpions. Try not to make too many sudden movements. However, it’s important to keep yelling slightly so they don’t think you’ve read this post and have a foolproof survival method.
  3. Once you’ve located the scorpions KILL THEM! They are just scorpions! Work quickly because you only have a limited amount of time before people get suspicious.
  4. Once they are dead, kick the screaming into high gear. You should be in pain. Really sell it.
  5. Make sure to pinch yourself really hard so there are bite marks.
  6. Once they open the box you’re on your own.  These tips only help you escape death by scorpions. Which is why #7 is the most important tip…
  7. Don’t doubt your Captain!

This poor pirate didn’t have a chance but he didn’t even put up a fight.  He just broke down and cried.  It’s unfortunate…  I’m still terrified of the boo box.

…  Do you think The Boo Box is meant to kill someone or simply punish them?

Rainy Sundays Movie Picks Beauty & The Beast

A little while ago, I was visiting some friends and they brought out their new Blu Ray copy of Beauty & the Beast.

It’s been ages since I sat down and watched the film and instantly I was brought back to the old days.

The Disney days.

I only saw the first 10 minutes but I was blown away by the quality of the film.  One of the greatest animated films of all time in high definition.  Nice.

I bought a copy of my own a few days later.

Rainy Sundays: Beauty & The Beast

I loved Disney’s animated classics growing up.  The Lion King, Alladin, Snow White, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book , Pinocchio and countless others are a treasured part of my past.

My new blu ray copy of Beauty & The Beast has re-ignited my love of the old school animated films.

Now I want them all again!

There’s something amazing about going back and remembering your child hood and the movies you adored.

It never changes.

I could have muted the movie and performed each and every line myself.  It’s the same way with all of the old Disney movies.

This edition of Rainy Sundays comes with a challenge:

Go back and relive your favorite cartoons from your youth.  Spend a lazy afternoon with movies you used to love but probably haven’t seen in a while.

Spend some time with old friends.

PS: Love old trailers.

Rainy Sundays: My Life

September 5th, 2010 | Posted by jasonmckinnon in Movies | Rainy Sundays - (0 Comments)

Rainy Sundays Movie Picks My Life

My life is a fantastic movie to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

This week’s pick is a film that scares me every time I see it.  Truthfully, I’m almost afraid to watch it because it makes me think about my own life and how precious every day is.  At the same time, the film also makes me thankful for what I have and reminds me to embrace each day to the fullest.

Movies to watch on a lazy day My Life

My Life is the story of a man dealing with cancer and struggling to tie up all the loose ends in his life.  At the same time he also struggles to stay alive long enough to watch the birth of his son.

Michael Keaton and Nicole Kidman are both outstanding in it and I couldn’t recommend it more.

Especially if you are looking for a movie to watch on a lazy day.

Rainy Sundays Movie Picks: Toss Up

This week’s Rainy Sunday pick is a little different for a very odd reason.

First let me first state that there is no pick this week.  I couldn’t think of one but I have a fantastic excuse.

I reorganized my DVD collection today and ALMOST watched about 15 different movies.

I couldn’t narrow it down.

I’m not sure if this has happened to other movie collectors out there but I tend to stare at my collection often unable to pick something to watch.

Has this happened to you?

In the end, I settled on an episode of Mad Men. (An awesome series I just started watching at the recommendation of Producer Eric.)

However, today did spark an idea.

Toss Ups

Very soon, Rainy Sundays will evolve.  The feature began as a weekly ‘lazy day’ movie pick and I’ll be sticking to that but I’ll be having a little more fun with the concept in the future.

Stay tuned for details.

PS: I did actually end up picking a movie.  I went with Quantum Of Solace.  Not necessarily a Rainy Sundays pick but I’ve only seen it once.
