The Trailer of the Rise of the Planet of the Apes

I actually liked this trailer a lot.  Definitely liked ‘Rise of the Apes’ a lot better but I can see why the changed it.  Brand recognition is key I suppose.

Cowboys & Aliens Continues To Impress

Audioslave is an inspired choice Mr. Favreau.  Nice touch.

The Hobbit Video Blog!

One of my favorite behind the scenes stories is that of The Lord of the Rings.  The special extended DVDs are packed with countless hours of phenomenal footage that tells the incredible story of how Peter Jackson and Co. pulled it all off.

I still watch those documentaries at least once a year.

XTRA: Why Special Features Inspire Independent Filmmakers

Now, with The Hobbit officially filming, Peter Jackson has returned to give us a taste of life on set.  Enjoy.

/FILM Has Two Great Transformers 3 Posts

The good folks over at /Film posted two really interesting articles this week on the production of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.  I’m all over this movie when it comes up. I’m not sure if you share my enthusiasm but these pages are good reads anyways.

/Film Gets A Sneak Peek At The Insane Action In Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Interview: Michael Bay Talks Dark of the Moon.

Cool Short Film: Damn Your Eyes

This week’s short film comes from director David Guglielmo.  Damn Your Eyes is an entertaining and well made western with a really great story.  You can’t ask for much more than that in a short film.

Sam, a mysterious stranger, arrives in town to exact revenge on the men who wronged him when he was only a child. He encounters Louisa, a prostitute who dreams of a better life. Meanwhile, Dennis, the town’s lawman, is familiar with Sam’s past and makes it his personal duty to stop him before the violence escalates.

Check out the film below and stay tuned for another exclusive interview.

The Athletic Nerd On /FILM!

March 10th, 2011 | Posted by jasonmckinnon in Movies | Web - (0 Comments)

The Athletic Nerd Movies Screenwriting Independent Film Blog

I HAD A MAJOR NERD MOMENT LAST NIGHT

While checking my website stats, I noticed a fantastic boost in traffic.  Turns out, I got mentioned on one of my favorite sites!

/FILM

My recent post, Buried vs 127 Hours was featured on their daily Page 2 articles.  Nice!

Click here to check out the post.

To me, being mentioned on a blog I visit multiple times each day is simply awesome.  I usually start my day visiting /FILM, Joblo and Collider and IGN.  Throughout the day, I continue to visit to make sure I’m up to date on the world of movies.  These blogs fuel my weekly Rundowns and inspire me to become a better blogger.

It’s a tiny mention but still a cool moment for me.

Check out /Film’s iPhone app too!

How being mentioned on one of your favorite sites as a blogger is a great moment but it’s only the beginning.  Time to work harder.

Special thanks to The Unseen Edits and The Art of The Guillotine for posting the article as well!

 Monsters Is Inspiring Gareth Edwards'

I came across two posts over at SLASH FILM today about how director Gareth Edwards made the upcoming alien invasion story:

Monsters

Click here to read a complete write up on the film.

Click here to learn more about how the director pulled it off.

The film is due in theaters this fall and it’s hands down one of my most anticipated movies of the year.  The fact that the majority of the film was done with a minimal budget and edited on equipment I have access to is inspiring.

All I want to do is get back to cutting my latest short film, The Climb.

I want to be in my office with Final Cut Pro opened up and really create something entertaining.  Monsters also has me pumped up for my new feature length screenplay that I’m planning on starting this fall.

I love the feeling of being inspired.

I was already excited about the film but then I saw the video embedded below and it pushed me over the top.

Not only that, the artwork and posters for the film are truly unbelievable.  Check out the poster below!  So simple.  So awesome.

I can’t wait to see Monsters on the big screen.
