Every once in a while, I go through a phase where all I watch are war films and epics. I have an entire section devoted to films like Braveheart, Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan and We Were Soldiers.
The time has come again and the first movie on my list is a classic:
The Last Samurai
“I will miss our conversations.”
A lot of people seem to have jumped off the Tom Cruise bandwagon recently but I maintain that love him or hate him, he has still made some outstanding movies. The Last Samurai is no exception.
It’s a perfect movie to enjoy on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
It’s a character drama about a man struggling with his past. At the center is an incredible relationship between Tom Cruise’s Nathan Algren and Ken Watanabe’s Katsumoto.
The Last Samurai is one of those movies that you throw in the DVD player and get lost in the world the film depicts. It’s such a well told story that it’s hard not to get wrapped up in the moment.
Before you know it, two hours have gone by and you’re happy you spent it watching The Last Samurai.
