The Nerd Has A New Look!

December 2nd, 2009 | Posted by jasonmckinnon in Design | Technology | Web - (0 Comments)

Like the new style?

I’m on a mission to create a better looking blog.  Today, I’d like to unveil phase 1 of that mission.

I installed a new theme called Modern Style and I’m pretty happy with it so far.  The options are a lot easier to customize and I’ve already begun to tweak.  I’m still not a genius when it comes to WordPress themes but slowly, I’m learning to dig deeper to create a more unique site.

Phase 2 will begin later on this afternoon.

PS: There are only two phases.

Jason.

New Site Launched

November 27th, 2009 | Posted by jasonmckinnon in 17 West | Design | Filmmaking | Technology | Web - (0 Comments)

ericgamacheA week ago, we launched our third and final web site of the year.

ericgamache.com

I designed this site as a portfolio site for my business partner Eric. This new site showcases his films as well as his upcoming productions. As a working professional in the film/television industry, Eric is a vital member of 17 West.

When it came to designing a third site, I had to find a way to make it different while still maintaining an overall style across our mini network. 17west.ca remains our flagship site and has a very distinctive look and color scheme.  I wanted the new site’s look to be different yet familiar to those who have visited 17W and jaymckinnon.com

I’m definitely still new to the design world but I find the idea of design fascinating and try to learn everything I can to make our sites effective. (hopefully it’s working)  The idea here is to create enough content to drive people to all three sites as well as our social network pages.

I’ve now designed three seperate websites this year. I’ve learned more than I could ever imagine but I’m still craving more. I’m now completely addicted to Photoshop and Dreamweaver.  I’m almost sad that at the moment, I have nothing left to design.  Next year when we start ramping up our 2010 productions there will be a lot of marketing and designing to be done I suppose.  I have that to look forward to.

As always, I’d love to hear what you think about all three of our sites.  Leave a comment or send me an email at jason@17west.ca.
